The next monthly meeting of the Historical Preservation Society of Upper Township (HPSUT) will be held Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 6 pm, at the Upper Twp. Senior Center, 1369 Stagecoach Road, Ocean View.

HPSUT Vice President Mike Horan will present a program on the local filming of Steven Spielberg’s new film, “Disclosure Day”. The new movie trailer will be shown, with glimpses of the Tuckahoe Train Station, Seashore Lines trains, and more.

Some scenes were filmed in our area, and Horan was there to observe the preparing, rehearsing, filming and cleaning up. He and his wife Barb took over 300 pictures. However, they had to promise not to release them until the movie came out this June.

The Upper Twp. Strawberry Festival for Saturday, May 23^rd, 2026 has been cancelled due to weather. Also, with the weather forecast, there will be no rain date on Sunday.

The Historical Society thanks their members, supporters and vendors for their understanding.

Upper Historical Society May 12th Program - Preservation of Gravestones of Revolutionary War Soldiers
The next monthly meeting of the Historical Preservation Society of Upper Township will be held Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at 6 pm, at the Upper Twp. Senior Center, 1369 Stagecoach Road, Ocean View. Upper Twp. resident Barbi Harris will present a program on the “Preservation of Gravestones of Revolutionary War Soldiers.” She has extensive knowledge of local history and genealogy and is also experienced with cleaning old gravestones. She is especially interested in very early Colonial and Revolutionary War-Era soldiers’ stones. Barbi will share her tips about what she has found successful on maintaining gravestones. She is a Trustee for Head of River Church and Cemetery, a member of Seaville Quaker Meeting, and has cleaned gravestones at each location as well as other cemeteries. She is also an active member of the General Lafayette Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. In conjunction with the observance of America’s 250th Anniversary, the HPSUT will begin the meeting with a 5-minutes talk honoring one local Revolutionary soldier. Please join us on Tuesday, May 12th.
